These classes are recommended for those who are new to yoga, are looking for some relaxed time, and/or want a gentle stretch. Any of the intermediate or advanced students can also take these classes.

Restorative Yoga is a practice for everyone. All poses are done on the floor and held for 5-15 minutes with the support of props to ensure deep relaxation. It is perfect for those with injuries, arthritis, inflammation, and anxiety. It is equally beneficial for those who need to de-stress and unwind from life’s hectic pace. While resting in a pose and breathing, the sympathetic nervous systems which governs the “fight or flight“ reaction to stress is pacified so that “rest and rejuvenation” can happen.

This class is a blend of gentle yoga postures combined with Yin and Restorative. It is a perfect way to unwind your nervous system for optimal health. Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting to decompress, relax and restore balance.

Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.Energy, or Qi, is the focus of both Tai Chi and Qi Gong. In both disciplines, the practitioner uses visualization, breathing and body movement to guide the circulation of Qi as it moves through and around the body. Qigong has a number of benefits – relaxes the mind, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, enhances immune system and improves sleep.

Recommended for all levels.

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much.

This can be done by both beginners and experienced yogis.

Not everyone can get up and down off the floor easily making traditional yoga classes difficult. With the help of a chair anyone can practice yoga with the same benefits of increased circulation, balance, flexibility, mobility and strength.

Chair Yoga is recommended for those with arthritis, osteoporosis, cancer (in-recovery), knee and weight issues, multiple sclerosis, post-op rehabilitation, and others with limited mobility.

This class focuses on pranayam (breathing techniques) and yoga stretches. All poses have long holds therefore allowing the body to stretch, strengthen and be more flexible.

This class is perfect for inflexible yogis, seniors and anyone with weight issues.


This class entails one hour of breath work using different techniques. There will be varied body movements synchronized with breathing; seated breath work and then meditation to close the class. It is for all levels though there will be challenging moments in class. This class is not suitable for pregnant women as breathing puts stress on the abdomen.

Intermediate + all Beginners classes

These classes are recommended for those who have done little yoga or have been working out. A good place to start before moving into the advanced level. These classes have a challenge you will enjoy and also time for relaxation. You can also take any of the beginners classes.

Immerse in the glow of candle light and relax to the soothing sounds of your breath. A meditative gentle flow practice in a room lit with candles allowing you to slip away the stresses and tensions of life. This is a gentle flow class that includes stretching, calmness, and serenity with a guided Savasana. All levels are welcome and encouraged. Just come, and enjoy the benefits of letting go.


This class combines joint mobility, breath, core and posture work using asanas and vinyasa to build strength, increase flexibility, and improve balance.

Recommended for all levels.


The Mat Pilates class focuses on strengthening the muscles of the hips, back, abdominals, and glutes or what is known in Pilates as the powerhouse. The exercises look simple but require stabilization of the torso and focused effort to keep the abdominals contracted and working throughout the exercises.

This sequence involves stretching, static postures, balance poses, back bends and relaxation.

This class has been specifically developed by Almaden Yoga instructors. Detoxification is a process of eliminating toxins from the body. Heat and therefore sweating is one way for the body to eliminate waste and is a sign of purification. Twists and back bends gently and smoothly squeeze and massage internal organs enhancing digestion and elimination. Deep breathing helps the lungs flush toxins from the body. Breathing exercises serve to transport oxygen to all the cells in the body to promote cell detoxification.

Advanced + All Beginner & Intermediate classes

Also known as Vinyasa Flow. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” This style allows for a lot of variety, but will certainly include Sun Salutations.
